Wish Tree is a community-wide endeavor that activates a huge number of people in supporting children in Inyo County for Christmas. Since 1995 local businesses, schools, civic groups, organizations and individuals generously contribute their time, resources and money. Volunteers participate in all areas of the project, from decorating gift bags, providing sites for displaying the Wish Trees, offering discounts at their business for those shopping for the children, helping bag the gifts for the big pick up just days before Christmas, donating money or gifts for the kids in the program, and so much more!
The Wish Tree Program is designed to offer income eligible families assistance to have gifts for the holiday season. Income qualified Parents/Guardians of children newborn to age eleven who live in Inyo County and Chalfant Valley apply and tell us their child(ren) interest and clothing sizes. A wish tree bulb is made for each participant and hung on a wish tree at participating businesses throughout Inyo County. The bulbs are written in a way that each child remains anonymous for community members to pick up and they purchase gifts for the child with the information provided.
