To Our Friends and Neighbors in Inyo, Mono, and Alpine Counties:
IMACA is downsizing. While we wish that we could continue to provide the full scope of services that we have offered in the past few years, we simply do not have the capacity to do so at this time. It remains our number one priority to provide as many high-quality services as possible to low-income families in the Eastern Sierra. Please check back regularly for updates. We are confident that following this contraction, IMACA can stabilize and continue to thrive and grow well into the future.
IMACA would like to extend a warm and vocal thank you to the Mammoth Lakes Town Council, Mono County Board of Supervisors, Inyo County Board of Supervisors, and Bishop City Council for recently voting to provide program funds. IMACA was able to weather a brief but severe period of fiscal instability due to this prompt community response to our request for assistance. As an organization we owe huge gratitude to community leaders for assisting IMACA in our time of need.
We are running the LIHEAP Program (energy bill assistance and emergency cooling/heating appliance repair/replacement) and Food Distribution Program as normal. Please continue to submit your LIHEAP applications and participate in monthly food distributions just like usual.
The Inyo County Office of Education and Mono County Office of Education are now directly overseeing the Preschool Program previously run by IMACA. All 6 preschool sites (Coleville, Lee Vining, Mammoth Lakes, both Bishop sites, and Lone Pine) are open and operating as normal. There was no disruption of service during the management transition.
IMACA will continue to run the Childcare Connection for Children Program in Mono County through June 30, 2022. It is highly anticipated that another local service provider will apply to run the program starting July 1, 2022, with little to no disruption to services. IMACA will share more information as soon as it is available.
IMACA will wind down the Housing and Homeless Service Program on April 15, 2022. IMACA encourages clients seeking services to reach out to other organizations including: The Eastern Sierra Continuum of Care, Mammoth Lakes Housing, Wild Iris, Inyo County HHS, and Mono County Social Services. IMACA will continue to oversee the Valley Apartments and Glass Mountain Apartments until a new management can be finalized.
