WORKING TOGETHER
Community Action programs were established in the 1960's to organize efforts to reduce poverty in our communities. Community Action Agencies such as IMACA are formed with members from all segments of society.
- Public: offices, services and funds from local, state, and federal governments. The public sector makes the rules and regulation that affect poverty.
- Private: agencies, organizations, businesses, and individuals. The private sector controls ideas and resources that affect poverty.
- Low Income: low-income people from our communities. Community members share their experiences and knowledge of poverty in the ways that affect poverty.
FUNDING
IMACA is a private, nonprofit Community Action Agency, funded largely by federal and state grants. Other funding sources include tax-deductible contributions, private donations of funds, goods, or services, and fundraising events.
